I've been watching Miami Ink and LA Ink today and I think I figured out how to do the embroidery portraits! And I even have a light box at home.....now to practice!

I was pleased as punch to find a forum dedicted to my fave embroideries, SS! I just got the Stitch-it kit, and have quite a few other SS patterns- I never get tired of them!

ribbons?

i mainly do all my embroidery with good old fashioned DMC floss, but recently ran across silk ribbon embroidery. of course, all the information/patterns related to this are generally concerned wth making very traditional, victorian pieces. have you done anything with ribbon embroidery that was more non-traditional?

Embroidery Newbie!

OK, I just got my first embroidery machine this weekend. I got the Bernina Artista 165. Up to now I have mostly just been a sewer, but have been thinking of getting into machine embroidery as well (I had held back because I'm so not a ducks-in-bonnets person!). But the price was right on this machine! For now I just have the machine, and have not purchased the software....

Anyway, I'm also a techie person, and was wondering exactly what the hardware format is for the embroidery cards that the Artista uses and can I use hardware other than what Bernina sells? Do I have to get their card reader-writer? I was going to get a few pieces of artwork of mine digitized and was thinking I would have to find a way to get it from the CD into the embroidery machine.... which means I would need a card, and a reader, right?

Thanks for the help if anyone can help!

Hey there! There are no hard and fast rules for this gathering. I may use it as a way to bounce ideas off you all, announce stuff on the site, show new work. Ya know. Stuff like that.

I hope you'll use it to post questions/suggestions for me, each other, share your own work in stitching (of any kind), links to interesting finds, and just basically help up the creative ante on what's expected of those who weild needle and thread.
